Local-file disclosure via unvalidated bundled-file paths
Published Aug 6, 2026 · Updated Aug 6, 2026
Path traversal in Ankitects Pty Ltd Anki before 25.09.3 allows remote attackers to read local files through its local HTTP server. _builtin_data in qt/aqt/mediasrv.py joined a bundled-file request path beneath aqt_data_path().parent and read the result without verifying that it remained inside that directory. Exploitation requires a script in an imported shared deck, or a malicious website plus a separate origin-check bypass, while Anki is running; the reported consequence is local-file disclosure only.
