Client command execution via failed COPY handling

Command injection in PostgreSQL psql before 18.6, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24 allows attackers to execute psql commands. When a scripted COPY FROM STDIN fails before PGRES_COPY_IN, psql mistakes subsequent inline data for SQL or backslash meta-commands instead of skipping it. Exploitation requires control of both a server that triggers the early error and the script's data rows, or control of the rows plus a coincidental early error.
