Client-side command execution via embedded CLI options
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Argument injection in FreeRDP before 3.28.0 allows attackers to execute local commands by supplying a crafted RDP connection file. The connection-file parser appends slash-prefixed lines verbatim to an argument vector passed to freerdp_client_settings_parse_command_line, exposing options such as /rdp2tcp, /cert:ignore, and /drive. Opening the file is required; command execution also requires an rdp2tcp-enabled build, while certificate bypass and drive exposure affect every client build.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
