CVE-2026-64584

Local privilege escalation via f_midi use-after-free

Published Aug 6, 2026 · Updated Aug 6, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel f_midi driver allows local users to compromise the kernel through a concurrent rawmidi write. f_midi_free() frees the MIDI object without synchronizing pending midi->work, allowing f_midi_in_work() to dereference the released structure. An open ALSA rawmidi output substream must rearm the work during USB gadget teardown; successful exploitation can disclose or alter kernel data or crash the system.
