Subscriber-to-Administrator escalation via empty-secret bypass
Published May 20, 2026 · Updated May 20, 2026
Improper authentication in BeycanPress Account Switcher 1.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain Administrator access. The rememberLogin endpoint accepts an empty secret when missing asSecret metadata yields an empty string, then calls wp_set_auth_cookie for the selected user. Subscriber access and absent asSecret metadata for the target are required; selecting an Administrator account grants full site administration.
