Stored DOM XSS via unescaped PDF href
Published Jul 24, 2026 · Updated Jul 24, 2026
Stored DOM XSS in Firelight Lightbox 2.3.20 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through crafted PDF links. The FancyBox V2 PDF beforeLoad callback generated in inc/fancybox-2.php concatenates this.href into an HTML string without escaping, so entity-encoded quotes escape a data attribute and create event handlers. Contributor-level access is required to store the link, and the injected script executes in a visitor's browser when the PDF link is clicked.
