State-revocation hang via unmarked layout state
Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026
Denial of service in Linux Kernel NFSD allows local users to hang layout-state revocation during an administrative operation. In nfsd4_revoke_states(), the SC_TYPE_LAYOUT branch calls nfsd4_close_layout() without first setting sc_status, so find_one_sb_stid() repeatedly returns the same state ID. Reachability requires NFSD layout state and an administrative revocation action; the revoker hangs indefinitely rather than reporting completion.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
