System crash via premature NFIT notification handling
Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux Kernel ACPI NFIT core allows local users to crash the system via an NVM notification. acpi_nfit_probe() registers the notify handler before confirming the NFIT table exists, then exits without allocating acpi_desc when the table is absent. A low-privileged local user must trigger NFIT_NOTIFY_UC_MEMORY_ERROR during that uninitialized state; the resulting kernel NULL dereference interrupts the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
