Persistent device activity via leaked PM reference
Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026
Resource leak in the ti-ads1119 ADC driver in Linux Kernel 6.11 allows local users to keep the device runtime-active indefinitely. In ads1119_triggered_buffer_preenable(), a failed i2c_smbus_write_byte() returns without releasing the reference acquired by pm_runtime_resume_and_get(). The path requires ADS1119 buffered conversion and an I2C write failure; failed preenable prevents postdisable from balancing the reference.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
