CVE-2026-64482

Service interrupt via unchecked control allocation

Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the ALSA GUS driver in affected Linux Kernel releases allows local users to interrupt kernel service. snd_gf1_pcm_volume_control() dereferences kctl->id.index without checking whether snd_ctl_new1() returned NULL after allocation failure. The published record does not identify how local users can force that failure, and the reported consequence is limited to availability.
