Local use-after-free via queued firmware work
Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel CS35L41 HDA driver from 6.0 allows local users to dereference freed state during device teardown. The fw_load_work worker remains queued because unbind leaves ALSA controls alive and removal conditionally skips work cancellation. Reachability requires firmware_autostart disabled, a firmware-load request before DSP initialization, and component or device removal before the worker runs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
