CVE-2026-64465

Kernel BUG via sleeping DMA free under spinlock

Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026

Denial of service in the Linux kernel xHCI driver allows attackers to trigger a kernel BUG by disconnecting a USB device with active streams. xhci_free_streams() calls xhci_free_stream_info() while xhci->lock is held with interrupts disabled; its coherent DMA free can sleep and raises the BUG in atomic context. The path requires an xHCI-attached USB device with active stream endpoints to disconnect, and the reported consequence is a kernel BUG rather than data access or modification.
