Host crash via erroneous VF BAR index
Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Linux Kernel 6.17 allows local users to crash the host during PCI state restoration after a device read error. sriov_restore_vf_rebar_state() decodes an all-ones error response as BAR index 7, then reads past the six-entry dev->sriov->barsz array. Reachability requires VF Resizable BAR restoration while the device is inaccessible; the resulting bounds violation can cause a host oops or panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
