CVE-2026-64457Public exploit

Local system crash via sparse queue indexing

Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux Kernel virtio_pci component allows local users to crash the system by unbinding a virtio balloon device. The vp_find_vqs_msix() and vp_find_vqs_intx() paths store queue metadata by sparse caller index, but vp_del_vqs() retrieves it by a dense virtqueue index and dereferences a NULL entry. Reaching the flaw requires local permission to write the driver unbind interface and a virtio balloon configuration with absent optional features.
