Kernel memory disclosure and crash via IE truncation
Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in Linux Kernel allow physically proximate attackers to disclose kernel memory or crash systems via crafted Wi-Fi frames. The issue_assocreq() and join_cmd_hdl() loops read pIE->length before verifying that a complete IE header remains in rtl8723bs buffers. A rogue AP needs no credentials or user action and can transmit kernel bytes in an association request or trigger a repeatable kernel fault.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
