CVE-2026-64414Network attack vector

Remote kernel crash via unreadable packet fragments

Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026

Improper error handling in Linux Kernel netfilter allows remote attackers to interrupt kernel service via crafted network packets. The affected paths mishandle unreadable skb fragments: IPv6 reassembly can call BUG() after skb_copy_bits() rejects them, while u32, NFLOG, and NFQUEUE fail to stop or limit copying. Exposure requires device-memory TCP with header-split receive and a packet path through u32, NFLOG, NFQUEUE, or IPv6 conntrack defragmentation; triggering BUG() can crash the kernel.
