Subscriber-level option modification via unchecked AJAX handlers
Published Apr 17, 2026 · Updated Apr 17, 2026
Missing authorization in Canto for WordPress 3.1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter plugin and cron options. The updateOptions() function accepts AJAX requests through wp_ajax_updateOptions and wp_ajax_fbc_updateOptions without a capability check or nonce verification. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to change or delete scheduling options and manipulate or clear the fbc_scheduled_update WordPress cron event.
