Freed-memory access via USB disconnect race
Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026
Use-after-free in the legousbtower USB driver from Linux Kernel 2.6.25 allows attackers to trigger unsafe access to freed driver data. The disconnect path relies on a mutex to manage the driver-data lifetime even though mutex_unlock() can still access that mutex, letting concurrent release free the containing structure too early. Triggering requires a legousbtower device plus concurrent file release and physical USB disconnection; no further consequence is published.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
