System hang via powered-down I2C register access
Published Jul 25, 2026 · Updated Jul 25, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux Kernel NXP IMX LPI2C driver allows local users to hang the system during suspend or resume. The driver leaves the I2C adapter available while clock and pinctrl resources are unavailable, so a periodic client workqueue can issue a register transfer against powered-down hardware. An affected NXP IMX controller and a transfer during the suspend or resume window are required, and the resulting consequence is a system hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
