Memory disclosure via undersized firmware blob

Out-of-bounds read in the elan_i2c driver in Linux Kernel allows local users to expose kernel memory through a short firmware blob. The elan_sysfs_update_fw function reads signature bytes at the firmware signature offset without first establishing that the supplied blob reaches that offset. Exploitation requires write access to the Elan device's update_fw sysfs attribute and applicable touchpad hardware; the resulting comparison can disclose adjacent bytes in kernel logs.
