CVE-2026-64217

Local kernel compromise via page-array overfill

Published Jul 24, 2026 · Updated Jul 24, 2026

Memory corruption in the Linux Kernel netfs iterator allows local users to compromise the kernel through network-filesystem I/O. netfs_extract_user_iter() accepts an iov_iter_extract_pages() overfill and builds its final bvec from page entries beyond the allocated pages[] capacity. Reachability requires file access on an existing CIFS/SMB3, AFS, or 9P mount; the corruption supports kernel-memory disclosure or modification and a host panic or hang.
