Subscriber-to-Administrator escalation via exposed API secret
Published May 23, 2026 · Updated May 23, 2026
Privilege escalation in WishList Member 3.30.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create an administrator account. ajax_get_screen accepts a user-controlled data[url] screen identifier without a capability or nonce check, renders the administrative API configuration template, and returns its plaintext REST API secret in an AJAX response. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to use that secret to create an administrator-role membership level and register an administrator account, enabling site takeover.
