System crash via premature EFI runtime dispatch
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux Kernel EFI runtime path allows local users to crash the system during ACPI initialization. EFI runtime dispatch queues an ACPI PRM call before efisubsys_init() has allocated the worker queue, causing a NULL workqueue pointer dereference. The condition requires firmware that issues an early PRM access; the reported consequence is system instability or a crash, with no confidentiality or integrity impact.

Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
