Wireless firmware crash via incorrect TX rate conversion
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux kernel iwlwifi MVM driver allows physically proximate attackers to crash affected Intel wireless firmware. iwl_mvm_mac80211_idx_to_hwrate() returns a legacy PLCP value to ordinary TX_CMD construction instead of the rate index expected by later firmware-format conversion. Reachability requires an older iwlmvm device such as Intel 7265D and adjacent wireless access; the resulting firmware assert interrupts wireless service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
