Service interruption via incorrect dirty-region offset
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Incorrect dirty-region tracking in Linux Kernel 6.10.8 through 6.11 allows local users to interrupt service through partial folio invalidation. netfs_invalidate_folio() sets finfo->dirty_offset to the invalidation start rather than its end when invalidation overlaps the front of a dirty streaming-write region. The path requires a dirty, non-uptodate streaming-write folio with that overlap, and the published assessment limits the consequence to service interruption.
