CVE-2026-64116Network attack vector

Kernel crash via unchecked IPv6 interface pointer

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux Kernel IPv6 IOAM path allows remote attackers to crash the kernel with crafted Hop-by-Hop packets. ipv6_hop_ioam() dereferences the result of __in6_dev_get(skb->dev) without checking for NULL after addrconf_ifdown() can clear dev->ip6_ptr under RCU. Reachability requires IOAM processing and a packet to coincide with network-interface teardown; a successful race causes a kernel oops or panic and service interruption, without reported data disclosure or modification.
