Local denial of service via unreleased socket buffers
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Resource leakage in the Linux kernel igc driver allows local users to exhaust memory through repeated transmit-descriptor failures. igc_fpe_xmit_smd_frame() allocates an skb but leaves it unreleased when igc_fpe_init_tx_descriptor() returns an error. A local low-privileged user must repeatedly reach this failure path on an affected Intel adapter; sustained leakage can exhaust kernel memory and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
