Mesh service interruption via unlocked BLA counters
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Race condition in the batman-adv BLA subsystem of Linux Kernel allows attackers on the same Layer 2 network to interrupt mesh service. Concurrent BLA request, announcement, purge, and periodic paths update request_sent and bla.num_requests without one lock, allowing double decrement or counter underflow. The batman-adv module must be active with bridge loop avoidance enabled; the inconsistent request state disrupts network availability and bridge behavior.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
