CVE-2026-64092

Resource retention via shutdown reference leak

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

Reference leakage in the batman-adv tp_meter component of Linux Kernel allows local users to retain a tp_vars object on shutdown. When the shutdown timer has expired, batadv_tp_stop_all() skips its release and batadv_tp_receiver_shutdown() also omits batadv_tp_vars_put(), leaving the timer-held reference unreleased. The path requires low-privileged local access and an already-expired timer; upstream does not state whether repetition causes a hang, crash, or service interrupt.
