CVE-2026-6406

Local privilege escalation via unchecked socket mount

Published May 22, 2026 · Updated May 22, 2026

Authorization bypass in Docker Desktop 4.41.0 through 4.58.1 allows local users to escape ECI via the --use-api-socket flag. The API proxy checks HostConfig.Binds for prohibited socket mounts but the flag places the mount in HostConfig.Mounts, so ECI leaves it unchecked. Exploitation requires low-privileged local Docker CLI execution and ECI; the resulting Engine socket access permits host-level actions and registry credential access.
