Local privilege escalation via writeback connector use-after-free
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Use-after-free in the DRM/MSM DPU writeback connector in affected Linux Kernel releases allows local users to execute kernel code. dpu_writeback_init() allocates dpu_wb_connector with devm_kzalloc(), so device teardown frees it while a userspace-held DRM reference remains usable through drmm-managed connector operations. Access to /dev/dri/card0 and a held DRM file descriptor during driver teardown are required; subsequent connector ioctls can disclose or corrupt kernel memory, execute kernel code, or panic the system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
