CVE-2026-64042

Cross-boundary MMIO access via unchecked BAR export

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

Improper access control in Linux Kernel 6.19 allows local users with VFIO device access to read or write unreserved PCI BAR resources. The DMA-BUF creation path in drivers/vfio/pci/vfio_pci_dmabuf.c exports a BAR without first confirming that its resource was reserved. Access requires an open VFIO PCI device descriptor; peer-to-peer DMA can expose or modify MMIO state and destabilize the host.
