Memory corruption via stale TX buffer type
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Memory corruption in the Linux kernel igc driver 6.16 allows remote attackers to corrupt kernel memory or crash hosts via network access. igc_fpe_init_smd_frame() reuses an igc_tx_buffer without setting its type, allowing stale XDP or XSK state to select the wrong TX-completion cleanup path for an SMD skb. Reachability requires the igc frame-preemption verification path, but the public record does not identify the exact network stimulus.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
