Remote code execution via stale ksmbd file reference
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux Kernel 6.18.33 and 7.0.10 allows remote attackers to execute kernel code through ksmbd durable reconnects. After smb2_open() republishes a ksmbd_file in the session volatile-ID table, its error path performs a durable-only final put that can free the object without removing the new entry. Network reachability, a valid guest or share-user SMB session, and durable handles are required; reuse of the stale ID enables kernel reads, writes, code execution, or a panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
