Service interrupt via stale OSS setup entry
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Use-after-free in the ALSA PCM OSS layer allows local users to interrupt system availability through a later OSS device open. snd_pcm_oss_proc_write() links a setup entry before duplicating the task name, then frees that linked entry when allocation fails, leaving setup_list stale. Reachability requires that allocation failure followed by snd_pcm_oss_look_for_setup() traversing the list; no data disclosure or modification is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
