CVE-2026-63943

Out-of-bounds access via short controller packet

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in the Linux Kernel xpad driver allows physically proximate attackers to access memory via a crafted USB packet. In xpadone_process_packet(), device-controlled urb->actual_length values below 18 index data[len - 18] or data[len - 26] without checking the packet boundary. A connected Xbox-compatible controller must send a short GIP_CMD_INPUT packet; the published record does not specify an operational consequence beyond the invalid access.
