Kernel slab corruption via undersized USB endpoint
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Memory corruption in the Linux Kernel omninet USB serial driver allows physically proximate attackers to corrupt kernel slab memory. The driver prepares fixed 64-byte outbound transfers, but vulnerable builds let the USB serial core allocate bulk-out buffers from a device-reported endpoint size smaller than 64 bytes. Exploitation requires local attachment of a malicious supported USB device; writes through the bound omninet driver can overrun the undersized slab buffer.
