Kernel memory corruption via pending VUDC timer
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux Kernel USB/IP VUDC allows local users to corrupt kernel memory during virtual-device unbinding. vudc_remove frees struct vudc without synchronously deleting its embedded timer, allowing the timer core to write through freed storage. Reachability requires configured USB/IP VUDC support and local control of usbip_sockfd plus driver unbind and rebind operations.
