Kernel memory corruption via stale DMABUF request
Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux Kernel 6.9 allows local users with FunctionFS device access to corrupt kernel memory through a DMABUF race. ffs_epfile_dmabuf_io_complete() frees a completed usb_request without clearing priv->req, so detach or close can pass that stale pointer to usb_ep_dequeue(). The path requires local access to a FunctionFS endpoint device node, which defaults to root ownership but can be delegated to a less-privileged gadget daemon; USB hosts cannot reach it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
