CVE-2026-63879

Local privilege escalation via stale AMDGPU page mappings

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

Use-after-free in the AMDGPU HMM page walker in Linux Kernel 6.2 through 7.0.11 allows local users to escalate privileges via GPU ioctls. amdgpu_hmm_range_get_pages rereads the MMU-notifier sequence across large chunks, allowing validation to accept page references collected before a concurrent unmap or remap invalidated them. Access to an AMDGPU render node or /dev/kfd, a mapping larger than 2 GB, and an attacker-driven address-space race enable stale-page DMA reads or writes, memory corruption, or a kernel panic.
