CVE-2026-63870

Kernel heap disclosure via uninitialized 6LoWPAN metadata

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

Uninitialized memory use in the Linux Kernel 6LoWPAN transmit path allows local users to expose kernel heap data in wireless frames. For non-IPv6 packets, lowpan_header_create or header_create returns without initializing lowpan_addr_info in skb headroom, and lowpan_xmit later copies and uses that stale metadata. Triggering requires CAP_NET_ADMIN to configure a 6LoWPAN interface and queue a non-IPv6 frame; the resulting address corruption can disclose heap contents or disrupt 802.15.4 traffic.
