CVE-2026-63847

Local memory corruption via unsupported JPEG fence writes

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

Memory corruption in the Linux Kernel allows local users with render-node access to write GPU-mapped memory via a JPEG user fence. The JPEG v2.5 ring initialization leaves no_user_fence unset, so command submission accepts an AMDGPU_CHUNK_ID_FENCE and issues an unsupported 64-bit write. Exploitation requires an affected AMD Instinct MI100 or MI200 GPU and /dev/dri/renderD access; it can disclose or modify mapped memory and cause GPU faults, driver hangs, or a kernel panic.
