CVE-2026-63838

Kernel crash via unbounded component_dais iteration

Published Jul 19, 2026 · Updated Jul 19, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in the Renesas ASoC driver in Linux Kernel 6.6 allows local users to crash the kernel during device probing. The rsnd_probe loop advances through component_dais until it sees a zero but fails to stop at RSND_MAX_COMPONENT, so a fully populated array causes a read past its end. Reachability requires a Renesas ASoC device configuration that fills every component slot; the bounded reported consequence is a local kernel crash.
