Unauthorized subresource access via truncated authorization paths
Published Apr 15, 2026 · Updated Apr 15, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization 4 allows remote authenticated users to access restricted VM subresources. The virt-api addNamespacedResourceAttributes() function takes only pathSplit[8] when building a SubjectAccessReview, so vnc/screenshot is checked as vnc. A custom role permitting a parent subresource but not a deeper one is required; successful requests can read data or invoke only those deeper VM operations.
