Privilege escalation via creator-unbounded field logic
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Confused deputy flaws in SurrealDB before 2.5.0 and before 3.0.0-beta.3 allow remote authenticated users to gain elevated privileges. Stored futures, functions, and closures run with the querying or invoking user's authority instead of being limited to their creator's authority. An attacker who can create or modify such fields gains root-owner privileges and server control when a higher-privileged user reads, invokes, or writes the planted logic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
