CVE-2026-63761Network attack vector

JWT authentication disruption via silent ES512 substitution

Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026

Cryptographic algorithm substitution in SurrealDB before 3.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to disrupt JWT authentication. At four internal conversion points, an ES512 access-method setting is silently mapped to ES384 because jsonwebtoken 10.x exposes no ES512 variant. Reachability requires privileges to configure a JWT access method; the mismatch rejects P-521 handshakes and externally verified tokens, without enabling forgery or data compromise.
