Privilege escalation via shared RPC session state
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Session-state race in SurrealDB before 3.1.0 allows remote attackers to execute HTTP RPC operations with another user's privileges. The /rpc handler shares mutable authentication state instead of binding each request to an isolated session, so a racing request can reuse an authenticated context before it is cleared. Exploitation requires concurrent legitimate authenticated traffic; inherited permissions bound the resulting ability to read, modify, or delete data and create users.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
