Authenticated file read via unrestricted analyzer mapper
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Path traversal in SurrealDB before 3.1.5 allows remote authenticated users with EDITOR or OWNER roles to read server files. The mapper filter accepts a database-supplied path, opens it when the default-empty SURREAL_FILE_ALLOWLIST imposes no restriction, and embeds parsed file content in an error response. Access requires an EDITOR or OWNER database role; disclosure is limited to files readable by the server process, normally the first line unless the file contains no newline.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
