Server crash via failed charset conversion
Published Oct 1, 2026 · Updated Oct 1, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in The Apache Software Foundation Apache HTTP Server 2.4.0 through 2.4.68 allows attackers to crash the server. The mod_xml2enc filter dereferences a null pointer when charset conversion of a proxied response partially succeeds and then fails. Exploitation requires an untrusted backend to supply that response through a proxy configuration using the filter; the reported consequence is service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
