Heap corruption via unchecked IPv6CP length
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
Heap overflow in Cesanta Mongoose 7.22 and earlier allows attackers to corrupt memory via IPv6CP frames on a PPP or PPPoE link. The ppp_handle_ipv6cp() function in src/l2_ppp.c passes an unchecked packet length to ppp_tx_frame(), reading beyond recv_queue.buf and writing beyond tx.buf. An unauthenticated adjacent peer must complete LCP negotiation against a build with MG_ENABLE_TCPIP and MG_ENABLE_IPV6 enabled; malformed frames also disclose heap bytes or hang the event loop through find_opt().

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
